K. Kitchen
The K family wanted an open kitchen design.
Their old kitchen felt closed off because the Island had cabinets hung from the ceiling, and the base cabinets had a stub wall around the sides and back.

Final Results
We moved the sink and dishwasher to the left, increasing space for food preparation. The Island was opened up by removing the stub walls and ceiling-hung cabinets. Then, we installed a built-in range and a built-in microwave into the Island base cabinets. The countertops are quartz with a full-height glass tile backsplash. We installed a chimney-style hood, pendent lighting, and under-cabinet lighting to finish it off. For the final touch, we trimmed the beam that the ceiling-hung cabinets were hiding, painted the walls and ceiling, and added new flooring.
Our kitchen renovation updated the space from feeling outdated and enclosed to modern and open. We felt the monochromatic countertops, tiles, and cabinets added a chic aesthetic while the black appliances offered a pop of contrast.
